Come one come all! Celebrate Canada Day and the 4th of July with us at Domi Plaza on July 2nd for our first annual Gringo Independence Day! The day will kick off with a brand new tradition – a river float, but this won’t be just any river float. These floats will be hand made by the businesses/individuals participating in this event. Each float will have its own theme and decorations, something unique to that group and their business. This year we have 17 floats participating. Everyone is welcome to watch the float from the river bank, seeing who they know and what they were able to create with 4 55-gallon barrels and a little sweat!
The rest of the festivities will kick off at around 1 pm with the band march from Tortilla Flats to the sports field. The Dominical Cultural Band will be accompanied by the Banda Grande de Terraba band. These two bands will fill our streets with the classic celebratory sound of drums, informing every one of the quickly approaching festivities. The fair opens its doors at 3 pm to a world of US and Canadian traditions: the food (think burgers, hot dogs, Mexican street corn, corn bread, pasta salad, funnel cake and so many other classics), the carnival games (ring toss and corn hole galore), the kids events (three legged races, stick horses, water balloon fights), the pies (best pie contest) and who could forget beer pong. All of this will be happening in an ambiance of select entertainment and our wonderful community.
So for a quick recap – we got the food, we got the games, we got the entertainment. All we need is you – showing up and showing out to support all the effort of the organizers and the amazing associations that these funds will be going to: Costa Ballena LifeGuards and Proyecto Árbol Generoso.
