Spay & Neuter Clinics
Let’s fix the root cause of overpopulation in Dominical and beyond.
The Situation at Hand: There is an overpopulation of cats and dogs in and around Dominical. Because of the amazing men and women in our community – be it the local restaurant owner, the multiple shelters and the even larger number of people who open their homes to strays for recouperation and as a safe place till they find their fur-ever homes – we do not have many emaciated animals walking the streets. Instead we have well fed, super loved and relatively cared for population of “town pets.”
Unfortunately, the animals cannot help themselves from the natural call that come when females are in heat. This leads to pregnant mamas who are having litters in unsafe areas where the need to feed them can be overwhelming to the humans that do their best to tend to them.
Our Solution: While we cannot go around and find every dog and cat to spay and neuter, we can set up affordable and safe clinics in the area for locals to bring their pets. With the global inflation, there has been a serious decrease in clinic attendees with the rise of medication and vet prices. By subsidizing the increase and bringing the prices below what they previously were more people can afford to spay or neuter their animals. We only work with clinics that provide a sterile and clean working environment for the animals that will be getting operations done.
In this way, we can make a huge impact on the lives of our local animals and over time, who knows, maybe overpopulation wont be something we need to worry about.
